Zenobia Julia Aurelia Septimia

Queen of the Kingdom of Palmyra, which was located in the Syrian Desert. Her strength and political skills enabled her to expand her rule over Syria, Egypt, and Palestine. She is significant for expelling the Romans out of the territory she ruled and claiming herself independent of Roman control in 271. Later defeated and imprisoned by Emperor Aurelian, who reclaimed Roman power over her territory. The details of her death are unknown; some sources propose that she was executed, whereas others suggest that she committed suicide.
