Sayyida Basma Al Said

A psychotherapist and mental health expert who is significant for breaking societal taboos regarding mental health issues, including depression and anxiety. After numerous years of experience in Australia, London, and the United States, she worked at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital for eleven years, later establishing Whispers of Serenity Clinic in 2012 as the first mental health clinic in Oman. She also initiated a program titled “Not Alone”, which encourages anxiety and depression victims to publicly speak about their experiences. She contributes to raising awareness regarding child abuse and its consequences, and she aspires to eradicate mental health’s perception as “taboo” in not only Oman, but the Arab world as a whole.
